Hurricane Irma Megathread

I was at the Contemporary last year during Matthew, the hurricane hit the morning we were to leave. We couldn't get a flight out until 3 days later. We were comped 3 nights and 2 days of park tickets.

That's not official policy, and not saying it will happen to you.

I talked to a few people before I got that. I didn't ask for them to comp my room at the Contemporary, I asked to be booked at another, less expensive Disney resort while we were stranded, as the Contemporary was $680/night or whatever it was listed online and I didn't want to eat $2k more just for a room. The nice manager told me she wouldn't let anything happen to us and comped us.

This all goes down at zero hour. There needs to be a hurricane warning declared for the county.

If this happens, be kind to the Disney employees, they'll surely be running skeleton crews and have their own homes to worry about. If you treat them well, they'll almost surely reciprocate. If you fail to secure a discounted room, take a break and keep politely talking to others. You'll eventually catch the right person.
