I'm just wondering, do you often make attention bringing comments out loud like that? Don't take offense but some people don't like being around people who bring unwanted attention that could potentially cause an argument with someone else for no reason really, it's embarrassing for some people to be put in that situation. No he should not have pushed you but maybe after 10 years of hearing comments like that he'd had enough and just reacted? If you don't think you do that often then I'm not sure why he would have done that, I'd definitely have a sit down talk about it though I can't imagine he's abusive if that's the first thing he's done in 10 years, he might not even have realized how hard he shoved you.
