On the one hand this is categorically true.
On the other hand, I cannot find fault with some kind of omission that being a single-parent in America seems unbelievably challenging for both child and parent. I am a relatively high-earner and even just living alone is something which is challenging, even as a very thrifty human.
Outcomes for children in ecumenically challenging conditions are generally worse than children in similarly "unchallenged" situations. I'm not making a judgement call or assessment that "one cannot/should not" have kids.
It just seems like at some point there is a subset of financial reality and how fucking awful and unfair it is to raise a family/be female-identified in this country.
