Hype Beasts

There's a middle ground to be had.

Learning scientific theories and mathematics isn't about being stuck in old ways of thinking while we could be learning 'real' things... Learning those things gives you a framework to use in the world. It improves the way you think.

Yes learning some history is useless, but even some of it can be important... It feeds into the trope , 'Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it'.

We do learn a lot of useless crap yes, we neglect a tonne of stuff too, he made quality points on that. There's a balance though, and this is why I think it's damaging and I call it a circlejerk. How many kids say "when am I ever going to use quadratic equations" etc. I know I heard that all the time. Young people watching this might already be pissed off with school as many are and then having somebody tell them what they want to hear in a cool rap... well...

It felt very edgy.

Anyway, massive reply but I do still think that he makes great points like I said, but instead of reaching a balance of ideals, he leads people to a dodgy conclusion.
