The Hysteria Accusation - Taking Women's Pain Seriously

I used to work in A&E for a few months. The way things work in A&E is that we first need to figure out if you are unwell enough to need hospital admission. We don’t tend to investigate chronic issues or non urgent issues. We leave that to the GP. A&E is probably one of the worst place to get investigations for chronic diseases because there is no continuity of care.

If you are having a lot of pain issues please also let your GP know as well. They know you better, will be able to follow up on investigations and can monitor if treatment is working.

I read a lot of these comments about doctors disregarding pain in women and I feel it’s because of a misunderstanding on the way things work in A&E.
