I think I’m decided on Bing, but I’m just wondering a few things

Bing is safe so long as you are smart. Campus itself is very safe they have police actively patrolling campus and a good "Blue Light" system. Nobody I knew male or female even felt unsafe on campus walking around at night alone.

Downtown is sketchy, anyone trying to tell you that it isn't is trying a little to hard to be brave. You can easily pull up crime "heat maps" and avoid those areas. Like I said if you are smart and travel in groups you will be fine. The city realizes that the whole economy is based off of the college. If the students stop coming because it is unsafe the city falls further into decay. The city police work pretty hard to keep students safe.

Honestly, if you have any common sense you will have very little to worry about. You will only find trouble if you go looking for it.

As far as the car goes you won't need one as a freshman, there is regular and reliable public/student transportation. I actually didn't bring a car to senior year after having one junior year because I never used it.
