Has happened to me before, unfortunately nothing you can do, the inspection he showed you, he most likely (95%) knows the guy who checked your car and passed it for the dealer. His legal defense is, you checked your car, the car passed inspection, and you bought it. Very high chance that the mileage is rolled back as well, a 10+ year old car with only 140k km is very rare, a 140k km car which has such problems is another issue but then again, it’s a range rover so… point being, unfortunately nothing you can do. An expensive lesson, check the car yourself first, make sure you get an independent car inspection from a trusted place, only then weigh the pros and cons and decide.
