I'd love to talk to my mum

Man that fucking sucks to put it bluntly. I was birthed to Asian parents as well, but I can't really relate with the 'Tiger' mum experience. Sure, she'd push me a lot when I was a kid, but wouldn't hit me or smash me for getting a C or D in History once in a while. I still managed to get into Medicine and whatnot, but that was purely due to personal motivations (we grew up pretty poor and my parents were lowly waged immigrants)... I just wish that a lot of Asian parents realise that they don't need to do jack shit to make their kids study, if they treat them with respect and instil good values, they'll make it. I still have a great relationship with my parents and am sort of thankful they didn't do that Tiger mum shit. I just wonder if it's a broad cultural thing, or if it's more specific - like rich Chinese mum type thing.. Honestly man, your experience will help you have a better relationship with your kids in the future, just move forward and know that you're in a better place, it's fine.
