IDLES say they 'lost the essence of our intentions as a band' on 'Ultra Mono'

it was to do with model village sounding like white validation 5 white men singing about racism although coming from probably a place of good heart it can never feel genuine coming from a band of all white men and some people argue but isnt it good they bring awareness to it? and to some extent thats true however for me personally it felt like they wrote it because they felt they had to at the time to go along with the blm movement it didnt feel genuine enough im sure black people need more important things than a song to believe someones anti-racist they probably want to see action in real life surely but what am i to say im white myself. can 4 white men really ever sing about racism without it seeming like they’re seeking for validation? as someone who comes from a single parent house hold whos working class i can say their music about classim even if they are middle class feels genuine it doesnt feel like they sing about the topic to get more money it feels like they actually care and use their privellege for good so i do still love their music i think they just need to thinking it through a bit more !!
