If you are 18 (Like me) and you start investing with acorns ($1 maintenance fee) let's say until about the age of retirement (Let's call it 60), You will have lost $504, is this fair?

My family is very poor. We live very frugally. I would tell you how much frugal I live, Every penny matters. It would make an essay though... $1 is my life! When I was about 6 to 11 my allowance was 5 dollars a week, I wasn't even guaranteed that money. After that, my parents didn't give me an allowance. I don't have college savings and I have a medical bill and a lot of debt. The money I got for today, well, it will be gone soon. It was gifted. With Acorns, I am taking risk. If it makes me rich it will if it makes me poor it'll make me poor. Along this journey, I plan and I just started planning and writing my financial stuff on paper. I constantly of filing for bankruptcy. That might make me the youngest person to do a bankruptcy but *sigh* I try selling my skills like I can do blemish removal on someone on photoshop using a photoshop alternative. But no one is taking my offer.
