If you are gay or bisexual, you should either not join, keep yourself in the closet or find another branch.

The issue with that is nobody cares about gay women because they are women. I think it's good for him to say this for other gay men looking to join because they will definitely get treated poorly as well and if gays get treated like this imagine trans. I don't support homosexuality or LGBTQ in general but I will still treat a gay Marine or man in general like anybody else. Lots won't just the truth he could try to move to a new unit but I guarantee it will still be like that unless he keeps it to himself. It sucks you have to go through that physical abuse OP but straight dudes just feel uncomfortable around them and some have heavy religious beliefs. The don't speak don't tell rule got lifted almost a decade ago and your still experiencing extreme disrespect and prejudice cause of your sexuality it's not gonna change now if it didn't change then. It must be tough going through that as a gay man hope you stay well.
