If you are not able to play due to the new phone requirement you should send in a ticket explaining that and request a refund, blizzard got back to me within a day helping me out.

As scummy ad this take is:

You already played OW1, which was what you paid for.

As shitty as this is, it's just how it works. You don't get to drive your car for 3 years and take it back to the dealership no questions asked.

If anything you getting a 'refund' would just mean you lose access to all the new heroes off the hop in OW2, which if we wanna equate that with value that would be the value of whatever S1 battlepass is.

Either way my dude, you played the game for years. Do you really feel entitled to a refund because they are discontinuing the live service?

Should everyone get a refund for each cod game that no longer has player numbers to support the servers being kept on?

I get it is the end of an Era and this is all super poor decision making from blizzard, but you got what you paid for.
