If being tan is considered attractive, are naturally tanned people attractive?

For Asian Americans, the "tan is bad" thing isn't black & white. Excuse the pun.

A lot of the time the HS/College students dress western, even if their parents or grandparents still look like they do their clothes shopping back in the old country.

And ... basic fashion conventions like blue jeans & khaki's are kinda specifically designed so you can't tell if someone is a recent immigrant or a born-here.

So...most people don't go out of their way to tan, and neither do most asians, but that definitely DOESN'T mean asian americans are trying to look like another race or purposefully look pale. It just means most people don't go out of their way to tan.

No, skin whitening creams & parasol's aren't as common here. Yes, there are exceptions in Asian cultural enclaves.

Also many tanned asians / dark asians just look puerto rican or something. Like Filipinos or Cambodians. The average American is not going to be like "that person looked like their from south Cambodia"...We aren't that specific about strangers.

Tl:DR: America is great because our youth are more free to not have to worry about the racist presuppositions of older generations. So there are more exceptions & less generalities about appearances.
