There was a armenian genocide and deaths, but on both sides. Neither Armenians or Turks did back off. They both tried to kill as much as possible, but the Turks "won". If the Turks had been the weaker ethnicity, they'd have been killed in masses. I'm sure.

No way, that Turks don't know, that they killed Armenians in masses, but it is a highly controversial thing.

I think, what most Turks are "afraid" of, is reparations and that Armenians get a "free pass" in hindsight. I mean, that any wrongdoings perpetrated by Armenians will be downplayed, on the pretext of that they have been killed in a genocide.
