If China were to lead the world, would it be so bad?

Ah I see your meaning. I was just prodding to see if it was ok to express my opinion less I offend some of the other members of this sub. But to answer your question I would point to Africa, China's technically already the leading power on the continent and even if there are rough spots the Chinese have brought investment and infrastructure. Frankly Westerners who try to say the Chinese are just as bad as German South West Africa, or Apartheid, or the Belgian Congo are just spouting hot air at this point.

And if China were to develop its own pop cultural scene on par with Japan and South Korea, it would most definitely bolster the standing of Asians in the world, I think that part is obvious if nothing to dispel the Charlie Chan stereotypes propagated by Western Media.

Elsewhere when it comes to politics or South China Sea, well that remains to be seen. I don't think democracy would work in China currently in its stage of development and with so many provinces, people, and ethnic groups spread out over the second largest country in the world by landmass. Maybe in the future they could consider it, but I believe whatever form of government works for them should be the one they adopt. Kind of like how Filipinos decided to do away with that checks and balances bull crap for Rodrigo Duterte's strong leadership. South China Sea I'm honestly optimistic. China relies so much on trade they would not be stupid enough to start a shooting war, plus the country does not have a culture of military glory like the West or even Imperial Japan. And as of recently China is starting to make more cooperative gestures to the countries in the region.
