Nah my guy. As a Schalke supporter, you couldn't be more wrong. Schalke gegen Dortmund is one of biggest club rivalries in all of Europe. The Ruhr Derby goes way back and has an intensity unlike most other rivalries. Schalke comes from a coal mining community, while Dortmund is a nearby steel milling community. Auf Deutsch, schalke are colloquially Die Knappen (The Miners). Der Klassiker is only a recent rivalry having to do with Dortmund now making regular challenges against buy-ern for the title run in recent years. Imo, a lot of Dortmund's fans are ultras, very one track minded when it comes to football and they despise Schalke. Not to say I haven't met a few fans of BvB that I haven't been able to get along with and share a mutual interest in the bundesliga.
