If a company found the cure for cancer, would they hide it, what's your opinion on the conspiracy?

Scientist here (cancer researcher…)

Cancer is not a single disease. It’s literally tens of thousands (potentially hundreds of thousands) of different diseases.

There will never be “a cure for cancer”.

Cures, for some cancers, yes. But not the former.

A more appropriate question that is in line with what’s happening right now in the cancer research space is — if a one-off treatment cure for a very rare form of cancer is developed that costs several million dollars per patient (single dose), who will pay for it?

Even in countries with subsidised medicines (fully socialised healthcare systems) there is cost-benefit calculation that comes into the decision of making medicines publicly funded.

So do only the rich get these life-saving treatments? Currently the answer is yes….

The same applies not only to cancer, but also any rare monogenic chronic disease also.
