If you could have a HUD in your field of vision, what kind of HUD or features you would want to have?

One day you will. Anyway, everything, but context-sensitive.

I'm going to need some upgraded sensory capability - prosthetic eyes would be good for this, since they could have a wider range of sensitivity as well as apply the HUD overlay and have access to my bloodstream and nervous system to look for all sorts of things. It might also be a good idea to replace my ears and connect them as well, that would allow identification and triangulation of sounds (and expand the frequency range of my hearing) as well as add some complimentary audio capability to the HUD, and the ears might be a good place for temperature, pressure, and humidity sensors, as well as the natural place for accelerometers.

So now I have eyes that can see from the far infrared (including terahertz) through the normal visual range, and well into UV. I'd probably want my base perception to be kept as it is now, but with the ability to shift it to black and white and overlay other frequency ranges as color. And of course I'd want light amplification.

Everything around me should get a physics risk assessment based on estimated mass and direction of travel. If there's a car that's getting too close to me, it should start glowing red. If somebody has a knife out, that should be glowing red. If it's dark or foggy, my eyes and ears should be tapped for all available information to construct an environment mesh to give me a best guess at what is around me.

Next comes object identification, including recognizing faces, street signs, license plates, and corporate logos, all giving me contextual links to relevant information. When I see my mom, it should remind me when her next birthday/anniversary/whatever is if it's getting close and I haven't been reminded recently. When I see my wife, it should remind me what outstanding chores I have to do and provide a list of handy excuses in order of probability they will work. When I say, 'where are my keys', I should get a map with directions. With pretty much everyone, it should throw reputation scores on their forehead, one based on personal experience and one based on information mined from social media.

When I ask a question, a wikipedia (or other reasonable low-effort source) summary answer should pop up. When I am working on a math problem, it should be there too. With graphs or animations as appropriate. If I look up at the sky, I should get an astronomy overlay. Or maybe standard flight paths. Or both.

Of course I should have my email, contact list, calendar, and my movie collection available to me.
