I'm imagining just the 4 OG survivors being engulfed by fog in the opening few scenes of the movie. Taken from their normal lifes and dropped into the realm. Just the confusion and horror of being dropped into a strange, foggy horror movie esque farm or something would be so jarring. And I feel like the perfect killer to represent the blend of lovecraftian magic, and classic horror is The Nurse. Just imagine the first scene introducing the killer. The 4 survivors finally get their bearings, and make nervous introductions. Then sitting in the theater, IMAX surround audio starts playing a steady heartbeat getting louder, and louder. The survivors grasp at their chest, on the verge of panic attacks, because somehow they know, something is coming. You hear a ghostly inhale of breath somewhere in the building. A pause that seems to draw on for minutes, but is only mere seconds, before a horrible spectre dashes in through the wall in a puff of smoke, and ash. The horrible screech of this demon nurse is heard as one of the survivors has been struck by a surgical saw. Everyone sprints away in absolute terror at the sight of this being, leaving their new friend behind. The following scene of the survivor dangling from a bizarrely placed meat hook seems standard horror, until Crab/Spider legs begin materializing behind them. It's honestly such an amazing sounding idea for a horror movie, but I know they'd somehow mess it up.
