I would happily give up insurance; as far as my use goes I get insurance for my car cause it's the law. I've got the cheapest most basic plan- in the event of an accident my deductible doesn't cover shit... same with that health insurance

As far as EMT goes, I've only ever taken them in Canada... where whoever takes you bills you. Ambulances have very quick response. I once had 3 waiting for me after I was pulled out from the wilderness after a trail accident.

I was billed about $70 for the trip, and my health insurance covered the rest- Canadian universal health care gave me absolutely no protection since I was an American with no OHIP card. I have never been serviced in Canada without presenting insurance and I'm not sure they would admit me without it. I've been waiting with a broken bone until I came back with documentation to be put at the very end of the 12 hour wait time queues... so fucking lucky

I can't just rant like this without mentioning public libraries. I couldn't find educational material at my library- plenty of Communist manifestos and books on the 'vast right wing conspiracy'... no copies of wealth of nations or the most fundamental free market books, but we had over 10,000 copies of 50 shades of gray when I checked!
