If English nationalism is on the rise, no one has told the English

This is very ironic coming from a Welsh point of view. It seems like many English people flaunt their nationality as a reason for why they are superior to minorities, whether they are Celts like Irish or Welsh, or ethnic minorities like black or Indian.

I'm not trying to say all English people are like this, but this is probably a contributing factor to why people are ashamed to be English. It is to be tied directly to a nation with a racist, imperialist history and a deeply classist society. And unlike Scotland and Wales, there is no national movement to reclaim this identity and see the English nationality in a positive sense.

Honestly, I encourage English nationalism, just as I encourage all nationalism, as long as it focuses on being tolerant and progressive and welcoming to all in England, not just those who are white and still support the empire or monarchy or whatever else.
