Unless one of the party confirms they have it covered, I assume that its 50/50

I grew up and live in the southern US & generally men will cover the bill even if you insist for them not to if it's a romantic gesture, bot in every case but I've come across a few of those instances. I always confirm that i have the next meal on me in those cases.

Its really selfish & arrogant for any woman to assume that a guy is automatically gonna cover her portion just bc she feels hes obligated to. In the past it happened bc women werent allowed to have bank accounts until the mid 1960s in the US & werent expected to work. But today, unless it's a personal & open arrangement between individuals, it's safe to assume 50/50!
