If giving guaranteed healthcare to all us citizens required banning certain activities (smoking, super size sodas etc), would you still be in favor? What would you be willing to make illegal?

Americans are so fucking weird and backwards. They want stipulations and restrictions on things that benefits society such as universal healthcare and affordable and equal education, but most don’t bat an eye on the fact that their tax dollars are spent on corporation bailouts, sending money to other countries for things such as Gender Studies, giving Congress a raise whenever they want, and on the military that receives more funding than the next eight countries combined. Truly makes my head hurts trying to understand why Americans would rather suffer so that certain people can’t benefit from something rather than wanting everyone equal (and great} opportunities so the whole country can thrive.

And I say this as an American.
