If kids actually followed their dreams, there’d be a lot more firefighters, astronauts, and dinosaurs nowadays.

We are doing this new thing in PA schools called career readiness. Basically, we are helping kids decide what they want to be when they grow up. Career Readiness is K-12, so kids as little as 5 are being groomed for careers when they grow up.

I teach 2nd grade. The first day of school was last week, so one of our assignments to satisfy the career readiness requirement was for the kids to write 2 sentences to explain what they want to be when they grow up. Some of the examples I got we're:

*Teacher *Veterinarian *Lawyer *Neurologist *A plumber *Batman *Pickachu *Super Mario *Vampire *Fire truck (not fireman, the kid wants to be a fire truck)

I'm just imagining some big wig at the department of education reading this, trying to figure out what to do about the kid that wants to be a fire truck when he grows up.
