Yes, that is part of the event. The bouncer outside the door checks your ticket. To get a ticket, it is required that you have a token of a specific collection. To get that token, you have to mint it when it is released, or buy one off the secondary market.

You could think of it as a decentralized way to run a club? You can buy or sell your membership at any time. Members get benefits. As benefits increase, the value of the original token rises (or doesn't, markets are funny like that).

Again, this is just one example. There's a bit of a problem in the anti-blockchain threads where people can't see the forest for the trees but that's ok. I could give you 100 examples of utility but I have work to do.
