If obgyn paid better do you think it would be super competitive?

I'm a male student who used to LOVE OB. I was even the president of the OB club at my medical school. I loved the balance between the OR and the clinic. I loved the advances of the field and working with patients (expecting mothers) who were compliant and very engaged with their health. However, my experiences changed after working with a couple of preceptors in an urban area. We had daily arguments about various ethical/moral issues (you can guess what they were). Eventually the residents also found out about how I feel about certain things and was pretty much asked not to come back. I realized that practicing OB (especially in the city where I want to eventually practice) requires a level of open-mindedness and a level of progressiveness that I, currently, do not possess. Maybe it's because I have my own children and think about these issues in a certain way. I'm not sure. All I know is general OB doesn't fit me as well as I wanted/thought. I think GynOnc is cool and infertility specialists do miraculous things but I don't want to take the chance of not getting into fellowship. Currently looking into surgery and EM. This is just MY experience though. YMMV

tl;dr: I'm not liberal enough.
