“If only I were a male photographer”

Honestly this felt a little out of touch. Like the author doesn't realize that her short comings are more personality based than gender. I think they said they are from Colombia so I can't speak for gender norms there, but here western side of things and even in Asia, there are tons of female photographers capturing exactly what this article says females are restricted of. Personally I feel the same way about getting in peoples faces and up close with strangers, though there are plenty of female photographers I have seen who have no problem with that.

I saw an article recently on a female photo journalist who said it helped being a female as she was welcomed into the homes of women (in the Middle East) and became able to take photos feel intimate and personal that a male wouldn't have been able to take. So there I think its the rare situations where you're in a country that has huge social gender gaps, but even there there is pros and cons to both genders lf photographer.

Making this article seems like the author is furthur cementing her percieved disadvantages. It seens best to just try to get the best shots wherever you are even if it is uncomfortable.
