If our imams were content with abu bakr and umar for the sake of avoiding fitna should we be as well?

Reading from Nahjul-Balagha and Sulyam Ibn Qays, the only reason Imam Ali (as) didn’t fight against Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman was due to not having enough Men, as the Prophet (ﷺ) told Imam Ali (as) that he was not to fight if there weren’t enough Men. The Sermon of Shaqshaqiya (Sermon #3) details about the discontent that Imam Ali (as) had for the Election System. He mentions that he has a “prickling in his Eye and suffocation in his Throat”, which has been interpreted to be a Reference to the Martyrdom of Fatima (as).

Ibn Qays makes mention that right after Fatima (as) screamed, Ali (as) rushed at Umar and threw him to the Ground and told him the only reason that He is alive is because of what The Prophet (ﷺ) told him, and that he would’ve finished them off if it wasn’t for that.

I’d say that there has been coexistence between Sunni and Shi’as, at least until the rise of Wahhabism. While there are major disagreements, we should still try to be civil with each other.
