I’m sorry, but I see this as a happy union between the two. I don’t believe in “remove everything to create balance.” Blizzard tried that with wow for almost two decades and failed. Let’s not be like those guys. I understand everything about trying to balance the game, but isn’t that honestly up to player preference? If want to play a bowazon, why would you use guns? I get that it’s a lot of hard work, but the best things in life require the most work. Sorry to go “real world” for a minute, but graduating college requires work, getting a job requires work, keeping a job requires work, getting married requires work, staying married requires work, kids require work, etc. So, if keeping the majority/masses happy means you do what requires the least work, then do what you need to do. I’m not judging. That’s your prerogative as developers, but don’t expect everyone to stay on the train. I would probably drop the mod if this happens, just because I like the engine, I like the diversity and I like the gameplay of GD+D2. Not only that, but having the union probably doesn’t spark too much plagiarism from blizzard, enough to cause a licensing dispute; but if the mod were to become a standalone based on an engine from another game? Hm that may cause some eyebrows to raise. At least having GD part of it provides a shield and some protection. In my honest opinion. I’ve been gaming a lot of years and seen games get ruined for less.
