Here's how I look at it:

Remember back in elementary school when a few dickheads would shit in the apple pie by fucking around in class, the teacher would get pissed, and cancel recess/enforce a no-talking rule for a bit? Well that harmed the nerds/non-dickheads who were talking among themselves (albeit at a quiet level to collaborate on a problem or something, not during a test ofc), and they also didn't recess despite being responsible.

However, if you were one of those nerds as yours truly was and still is, that likely saved your ass from getting injured pretty bad due to how uncoordinated you are.

Moral of the story - if a few dickheads shit in the apple pie, it's best that no one eats it, unless you have a way to get all of the germs/e. coli/etc. off of it.

Yes I'm aware that this is a terrible analogy, but it's somewhat relevant.
