If you relate to this article on Existential Depression, I'd like to say "hi".

I completely relate with this article but I also feel like anyone could. Everyone has thought about their existence at some point and whether it sticks and turns into an obsessions or turns sour into a depression completely depends on the person. Without a doubt gifted people are far more likely to fall into a depression but many people are equally capable of attaching themselves to the real world. Whenever I see articles with titles like "intelligent people get depressed easier" it makes me think these articles are a ploy directed at depressed people to make them think they are "special." I've been at odds with the universe since elementary school and I've done absurd amounts of research into physics, quantum mechanics, special relativity hoping to find some answers. At the same time I still consider myself an idiot, I can't argue/debate, I can't have meaningful discussions with other people, I suck at strategy games and I get average grades. I know I'm not "super gifted." I'm just a depressed dumbass in a desolate dimension.
