If Victoria 3 can accurately depict the horrors of slavery, HoI4 should depict the horrors of WW2.

Setting aside the infantile analogy in the "tl'dr", the core concept doesn't really hold. I could easily make both sides of the argument that it's "good/bad" for paradox to display historical tragedy . We can assume 100% agreement on values and we'll still see disagreements in how doing _ represents them or goes against them.

The response this ALWAYS gets on this sub is "well, it's a game, and you're focusing on the war aspect, not the sociological aspect" as if they can be in any way meaningfully seperated.

"Wargame" is a distinct genre of games with its own rules and assumptions. "This game in the wargame genre, has a default set of blinders" is a pretty banal observation. It doesn't fully explain the holocaust stuff, but it does explain e.g. why it's not likely to be a core game mechanic.
