if you work an average of 50 hours a week how often is it acceptable to call in sick?

It's called "satirical misspelling". I spelled it that way on purpose just so someone like you can react to it! lol.

Anyway I usually put in time off requests two weeks ahead of time. But two back to back 12 hour shifts (on a Monday and Tuesday mind you) means that if I don't call in sick and stay home, then I have a greater chance of getting in a motor collision on the highway or having a workplace accident. Then I'll REALLY be unable to work.

Besides. being burned out due to overwork *IS* being sick. Maybe you should take chances in being assertive to find out you don't need no "Doctor's" notice to prove you were Sick.

On that note, however, Thanks for the heads up. I'm pretty sure there's someone in my company who thinks like you, and so I don't think i have much time left to be there. I better go talk to my managers about getting my hours reduced to a limit of 10 or so per day and put in paid time off every other week.

I never been fired for poor work performance and you never plan to stay at work for no more than 10 hours a day. But apparently this company has found my weakness: I don't like having my time wasted/taken away.
