If You're from Poor or Middle-Class Families, Hollywood Is Nearly Impossible to Navigate

People are downvoting you because it’s an unfortunate truth they don’t want to accept. I got a late start to my career and it was an incredible slog that took years because I was older and had less experience than people younger than me. And just as you said, 9 out of 10 times a 28 year old with 6 years of experience is getting the job over a 38 year old 6 years of experience because 28 is often a better cultural and they’ll be working with their peers, whereas having 38 year old reporting to someone younger than them can be problematic for some people, too. But mostly, the impression generally is that the 28 year old is more focused and driven as opposed to a late starter.

That said, everyone deserves a chance, but when you’re older, is just a reality that you get fewer of them.
