IGN Re-Reviews Sea of thieves for 2020 and scores it an 8.0

There is variance in enemies

Having a couple enemy types from the beginning for a multiple hundred hour game is not variance. Though I guess on a strict definition it is. Still, my point isn't "There are only single skeleton" I'm saying nobody will see the dozen enemy types total and think "Wow this is so varied" after 10 hours let alone 400.

And be real, how many varieties of skeletons are there that require "entirely different tactics?"

There are maybe five here that fit this definition and again you get them all from the start. It's not like there are dozens and you'll never see them early on so it's a constant source of anticipation and mystery, a new puzzle to solve. Hour five is hour fifty is hour five hundred, that's my point. There is no real variance to justify the weight of the game, so why bother playing it after hour five? More monies and more cosmetics. That's it.

and have completely modified models

They have a different color and/or material, or they have a thing on them like seaweed. Completely modified, totally. Skeletons are super easy to "completely modify" but they never do. No big or little skeletons, no abnormal skeletons, alien skeletons, creature skeletons, this is my point.

Even then, there are still other enemies

Shark, big shark, terrible excuse for a Kraken. They lowered the amount of sharks a great deal so really your time is going to be skeletons and there are occasional curve balls (or curve fish?) to round out the ten hour marks. It counts sure, but not really.

It’s amazing to think that the only reason this complaint exists is because they didn’t make new animations to go with the new model and mechanics.

This complaint exists because the combat is floaty, awkward, and has no depth/variety/point. It's a blockade to keep you from get monies. The point of the game is get monies: you have skeleton in way, click until dead or shoot until dead, sometimes get in water, sometimes click on boom barrel, sometimes do lantern color thing, collect monies.

That's the game. That's not enough for people like me and the other guy who want more to the meat. You can't cross your arms and go "You're wrong" when it's simple fact. You can go "It's not for you" and that's correct. It's not for me, it's not for him. We won't play it. Simple as that I guess.
