IIT Graduates Cannot Be Selling Detergents: Pranab Mukherjee

The pay might not be on par with a US University but probably isn't that far off. In terms of prestige as seen by Ivy+ universities, IIT ranks with them, and higher than, say, NYU. The Ivy+ tech university system has a large number of IITians (and AIEEEians too) at all levels including department heads and uni presidents. Even Anna University gets the same respect as a mid-level US uni. Indians and Chinese together make up the majority of grad students and in many places outnumber local candidates. A typical grad student office would have 3 white people, 3 chinese, 3 indians, 1 black guy, 1 european, 1 mea. America runs on Dunkin and the American research system runs on Chinese and Indians.

At the same time, half of America probably imagines a call center academy when they hear Indian institute of Technology, so you can't exactly call it prestigious among the general public, but those who know know. Notice that IIT's foreign educated professors are mostly of Indian origin. White and Chinese people (the other 2 big demographics in postgrad) aren't exactly lining up to work at IIT, and for good reason: the country is a dump and now it's run by fucking clowns. The professors we do get at IIT are taking at least a small hit for their country/family.
