Ilhan Omar To Join Bernie Sanders At Primary Eve Rally

There are other Muslims in Congress and other black women, she is more of a lighting rod because she stands for a lot of things that are polarizing. She also wears a hijab and the rules were changed, partly for her, as prior to this Congress there was no headwear allowed. It just doesn't seem appropriate to me, I'd rather she didn't wear a symbol of her religion while in the house chamber. Freedom of speech I suppose. Just seems to be ironic to me too, like those beliefs don't seem to align with progressive ideals... I'd rather see it anti religion all together... Or I guess, keep it to yourself and don't shove it in my face. Wouldn't like people wearing big crosses or kippahs in the house chamber either. And aren't there a lot of oppressive ideas around women having to wear a hijab and cover their hair? I guess I don't get why she conforms to that.
