As someone who has been a consultant at many of the Chicago land area hospital organizations.. I think many are ill equipped to handle such a response. By your chief nursing officer putting in work to update/change some things is a good sign, albeit a late response. Hopefully, the right people updating the policies/protocols are making these decisions (and doing it correctly) it'll be important for everyone to be on the same page so there's no nervousness moving forward .. but that's what differentiates the organizations from one another - awful to below average leadership. I'm hoping they make the correct steps and more importantly I hope your symptoms subside. I work from home but went out yesterday so im going to monitor myself but I'm pretty cut off from society if I need to be so I'll be alright.
