I heard a rumor many years ago that a neighbor a few houses down had a baby. Their house was melting from water damage, you could smell it from the street, and no one ever saw kids ever. I heard the rumor again a couple years later, talk talk talk at neighborhood meetings, so I finally gave up and called it into the non emergency police line. Police “swatted” the house a few days later and found…. THREE KIDS! They took the kids, condemned the house, and then someone looked into their backstory (full of mental illness and tragedy, no drugs). Someone started a fundraiser and raised enough money to rebuild the house for the family. The kids were not returned but the older two moved back into the house when they became adults a couple years ago and now they’re just a normal seeming family living on the block. It was a wild ride to witness over a 10 year period.
