I'm actually gonna write this. I'd like some suggestions.

That movie has to be the most self indulgent "noble savages" preachy ignorant Hollywood slop I've ever seen.

Not worth it, not one bit.

The villains are two dimensional, not once is the villains side of things explored, nor is Jake Sully's utter failure to do his job in explaining to the Na'vi WHY humans needed the unobtanium, there's zero inter-tribal conflict or prejudice between the na'vi tribes because "bigotry is something only the white man is capable of" which makes it feel like not only do the Na'vi have no history of their own which may lead to animosity between tribes but that they have no history at all, just blindly welcoming in this tribe of newcomers with no suspicion of ulterior motives and zero cultural tension, misunderstandings or cross-cultural offenses being committed, because they're like newborns who've never experienced getting fucked over in their history and don't have any culture of their own that they identify with.

The avatar films like to pretend the Na'vi have history and culture but there's nothing beyond the most bare surface level. A few funny handshakes, some drawings and a few dances. It's the amount of culture a tourist on an overnight layover would absorb about another culture and that's just all there is as well a few speils about "being one with nature" and shit.

And, I honestly forget, do they actually explain why the humans are trying to hunt the space whales? Jake's tribe the "tree people" (stupid fucking name) fled, so that unobtanium was there for the taking. Why wouldn't the humans just secure the perimeter around the mines and dig it up? Maybe try and make an overture of peace by fertilising and re-seeding the land they mined once the local vein is extracted? Y'know, maybe humanise the villains a bit? Show there are still elements among the humans wanting peace with the Na'vi?

But no. It's a preachy self indulgent wank fest for a stuck up his own ass Hollywood director who's so far into crazytown that he's preaching that testosterone is toxic to the body and men should be rid of it (and I can tell ya now, very few if any men who commit suicide have too high testosterone). Not to mention this was a 4 billion dollar movie. 4. Billion. Dollars. This was an incompetent writing team fuelling the ego of a once competent director who was able to just throw litteral megatons of money into the project to make it work.

You know this post was meant to be a short post about a movie I didn't care for but as it devolved into a rant I realised I actually really fucking hate this movie and everything it really stands for.
