I'm an insomniac, tell me all about your philosophical views. Lets talk meaning.

I will take a shot at these, but I'm no philosopher!

Why are we here?

By chance. Abiogenesis hasn't been solved yet but I trust someday it will be.

Why do we behave the way we do?

Complex electrochemical reactions in the brain, many of which we don't understand yet. The nearly infinite range of combinations that can take place are what gives us the vast variety of personalities we have, ensuring no two people think or behave exactly alike.

Why can our desires never be satisfied?

I think that many desires can be satisfied, but it's not always easy and not all of them can be satisfied. It might be beneficial to always strive for something more than what you have.

Why do we fall in love?

Love lends itself to reproduction, of course! ;) There is much more to it than that, though. While it's not for everyone, I think having a partner in life you can trust and rely on helps get us through the rough parts.

Does evil exist?

Not intrinsically, but I feel if the majority agrees something is harmful or undesirable, I would be willing to classify it evil. I'm sure someone who's studied philosophy could tear this apart and provide a better answer.

Were we created?

I don't think so, I think it's chance, and I think there may also be life elsewhere in the universe. I do think the concept of being created is helpful to many people, though, and I wouldn't work to take that away from them. It will be a long time before anyone knows anything for certain.

Why do we feel the need to ask so many questions and make life so complicated when other animals are perfectly content living simple and instinctual lives?

I think it's a result of thinking and operating on a higher level. Our brains are capable of much more complex thought than many other animals, and our ability to read/write has allowed us to build upon our collective knowledge at a much faster rate. Dolphins are pretty smart, though!

Why can't I sleep?

I'd like to know this too. :) How long have you had insomnia? Have you tried things that haven't helped?
