I'm bleaching my hair from dark brown. My first time doing my hair on my own. Any tips?

I'm not OP but here's a couple recommendations:

  • If you're concerned about possible damage, make sure to deep condition your hair beforehand. I'd recommend SheaMoisture, even if you don't have curls. All their products smell heavenly and are safe for color-treated hair. It's normally on sale at Walgreens/CVS, but you can also it at Walmart.
  • Also, a lot of salons use Olaplex to achieve blonde hair with little damage. They've got some cool pictures on their IG, and you can buy Olaplex for a good deal from Amazon.
  • If you bleach your hair and don't like the resulting shade, try a toner like Wella Color Charm in T18 or T14. I used it after I tried to go from red to blonde and it got rid of most of the orange brassiness in my hair. It's available at Sally's.
  • Before you buy: Youtube is a great resource for figuring out what supplies you need and what methods work best. Just type in the brand and color if you decide to use a dye, but the more popular products will have more in-depth reviews and results. Even if it's not specific to a certain brand, there's a video out there telling you how to fix whatever problem you might run into along the way.
