I'm disappointed, Simon...

I normally don't post my opinions on these types of things, but I wanted to share mine right now.

Now, in response to this, an argument can be made for both sides:

-On the one hand, TB has been very pro-Gamergate, and has expressed those viewpoints in the past. I'd rather not go too into that whole shitshow, but I can't see how rational people would support a group of people who made outright threats ranging from rape to bombings. Simon, meanwhile, has been firmly against Gamergate, and I do like how supportive of women's rights he's been in the past. That alone makes me think that he's an okay person. In addition, I can see why this comment might have been made. In the past, TB has sorta acted like that kid who hits another kid, and then throws a massive temper tantrum when the other kid hits him back. The previous Simon-TB exchange was sorta instigated by TB himself, so it wouldn't seem unnatural for there to be lingering bitterness.

-On the other hand, Simon's comment came of as very immature. I remember the whole thing when another person who works for another Youtuber (who will not be named, but I'm sure you can guess who), where he criticized the Yogscast for "not mentioning glitches enough" in their Assassin's Creed Unity vids. I remember the general consensus on here being "I can't take him seriously if he's going to be immature about it" (Fair play, since I felt the same way). I feel like it's the same here. Yes, I don't agree with TB. Yes, there's just cause for Simon harboring some dislike for TB. No, this comment was not necessary. TB and Simon publicly announced they were severing ties, but Simon doing this is only adding more fuel to a fire that was almost burnt out. Also, it doesn't paint the Yogscast in a good light. Simon makes up a large portion of the public figure of the group. After the Yogventures and Yogsdiscovery disasters, these guys don't need any more bad press. In addition, you don't really see the others acting out like this. Turps, Lewis (when he's not constantly having shit piled on him), Hannah, etc have been pretty civil about everything that happened, but as time has shown, people like to focus on the most explosive rather than the best representation. It just hurts more than it helps.

There really is no good guy or bad guy here. Simon's comments were inappropriate and unnecessary to say the least, but history has proven they might not be totally uncalled for. Hopefully this'll be like the last TB/Simon conflict and this will blow over in the next few days. For now, though, this is my two cents, and hopefully things don't get worse, because this could get way out of hand.
