And if he gets hurt or feel sad there's nothing wrong about it i guess? Not on your part, not in his part either coz it might've taken him some courage to ask as well and if he is denied it's alright to feel sad. I mean you would've felt bad if that happened to you as well, right? Of course if he freaks out, he is an asshole.... But i dunno, since I'm not a girl and have never asked anyone for number either tbh xD so if i were you, i would just say no, I'm sorry and one or two more things if he looks sad..... Saying that "passive no" is rude coz that sounds simply like you think yourself as better than him in some way or something (i mean, i would've felt that and instead of freaking out or call you a b##ch or something, i would just end up having a bad image of you as a person)... I know there are going to be so many of em advising you to be cold and 'you don't owe em shit' and 'you go girl' or may be like "if he thinks of you as a bad person how does it bother you" type of things....but may be just take it easy .... If you think your action hurt someone but you didn't want to, say something to make it clear that you didn't enat to hurt em instead of just being cold... If they react badly say no more and leave...
