I'm a former atheist turned Christian pastor. I got an hour- AMA

How do you justify/ignore/reinterpret things like:

Old Testament-

Deuteronomy 22:13-29 (stone women to death for not being virgins when they get married; if you rape a virgin who isn’t engaged you hav ego pay her father and marry her)

Leviticus 11:7-11 (can’t eat pig meat, anything from the water without fins and scales) ———————————————————————— New Testament-

1 Timothy 2:11-12 (“A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet”)

Colossians 3:22-25 (slaves, you’re doing gods will by serving your “earthy masters” and 10/10 will be rewarded for doing so)

Ephesians 6:5-9 (similar to Colossians. “Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ”. Also, slave owners, be nice to your slaves (that you are totally allowed to own).

———————————————————————- There’s plenty more examples I could go find but I think this makes my point. Yes, I’m cherry picking, but ignoring (or “reinterpreting”) shit like this is as well.

Why, if there’s no evidence supporting any major religion, chose to serve a god who supports slavery, views women as lesser than men, and worst of all won’t let you eat #BACON?

(/s because I know somebody is probably butthurt by the last line)
