I'm a former squatter who turned a Russian oligarchs mansion into a homeless shelter for a week in 2017, AMA!

We had a property that we purchased before we had a family. We decided to get a larger home and keep the first home as a rental property (Airbnb). While we were renovating the house squatters parked their "rv" on our property and kept stealing the building materials and damaging the property. We had to get an eviction to tow the rv off the property. This couple later got a free attorney and claimed that they had lived on the property for 5 years and they sued us, the police, and the tow company. It cost me 30k in legal fees just for the judge to dismiss the plaintiffs case. Alot of these squatters abuse the system and make regular people spend unecessary time and resources because they feel entitled to live for free off of someone else's work.
