I'm going to cry.

That being said though, we were absolutely surprised when we learned about it. Like yes, we both knew reptiles could carry it, but it just didn't register because in the months that we prepared and researched, not one bearded dragon care site mentions that danger for kids under 5. My husband was thorough, he's always wanted one. Even worse, we talked to THREE sales associates at the store, while with our child, and not one sign or warning was posted, not one employee said 'hey, maybe it's not such a good idea with a young child..'.. because you know, they're out to make sales, not care about safety. It's very frustrating. You just don't see it until you Google toddler with salmonella or whatever.

But after we found out it was typhoid we knew it wasn't from the dragon, which is a relief because over all my husband is really careful with handling and cleaning him then washing up, so we were still going to be surprised if that's what had caused it.

Anyway, moms, don't get reptiles in a house with young kids!
