I often use Ibis Paint for my drawings. I'm also a beginner too, so I don't know much and I'm not sure if any of this will help.

For the brush, I often set the thickness and opacity of the brush's end and start to 0% to connect the lines and end the lines more evenly.

I also use different features that help me improve my drawing such as the lasso feature when I can select a certain area and to edit that area to fit your drawing better.
