I'm heading to NOLA for the week. What's worth checking out?

I know it's a new Orleans "classic" but every time i go avenue pub i have a terrible time. Went there years ago and had some beer to watch a football game they don't lable beers on the wells and its really dark so i couldn't read the menu. Didn't really think much of it but as a small inconvenience. Next time a friend was in town and wanted to get some beer close to his hotel on st. Charles its within sight almost and we go in i ask what happened to the pool table the guy in the kitchen said "'we got rid of it to keep people like you out" i was pretty much wtf considering he was the first employee i spoke to. Then when i asked him if upstairs was open yet he responded "yea for most people" that guy is why we turned around and left. I'll never go back there no matter how many new imports they have. I ranted a bit sorry.

Frank and Johnny's is good comfort food

Brest po-boys is King Po-boy in Metairie

For Seafood go to Superior seafood corner of st. Charles and Napoleon.

For good bar to sit for hours and drink of absolutely recommend the BullDog. Beer snobs will tell you they don't cleans their wells often enough and their beer tasts "tainted" but they always do fine in their health inspections.

Coffee shop i like Scared Grinds coffee isn't outstanding but it's good and if you go through the back door there is a patio that looks over the graveyard that is also next to the Katrina memorial

Katrina memorial is one of the most underrated attractions in NOLA. Its off the corner of city park ave and canal. Dont let the ivy leauge college kids tell you its wasted money that should have been used to fix the roads. They didnt live through that storm.

Last but not least city park. You can bring some beer and drink out there as much as you want and even if you get too drunk and passout on your blanket no cop is gonna come kick you out of the park.
