I'm kind of impressed that after 9 expansions, Blizzard still doesn't know wtf they want to do with Shadow Priests

You just highlighted the issue I'm trying to explain. The problem is shadow crash isn't up. Shadow crash has a 30s CD. So the pack is dying before it's up again (20 GCDs) or lives longer than the CD (30 GCDs) but before it comes back up.

You're proposing spending 10% - 15% of the total pack's life just preparing for your AOE.

Priority packs, like the imps, would mean you're just useless. They have to die before your dots start ticking. Any pack that requires movements means you're useless (most of them). You only get one dot, and it's really 4 GCDs when you include the sear tick.

I 100% agree with you on the shadow crash change. It should definitely be up more often and it's now critical to shadow M+ damage; however, there's a reason Searing Nova sucked such much. This is partly it.
